Educating, Engaging, and Empowering
Welcome to our free educational webinar series, which includes valuable information on the science and ongoing research around neuroinflammatory conditions.
This series is an extension of our mission to educate and engage patients, caregivers, and healthcare practitioners, with the goal of fostering a greater understanding of the complex mechanisms behind neuroinflammation and its impact on multiple conditions.
Our webinars will feature expert speakers, including leading researchers, clinicians, and patient advocates, who will share insights on a range of neuroinflammation-related illnesses.
We invite you to explore and learn through this webinar series. Your participation will help us continue our mission to spread knowledge and build support for those affected by brain inflammation and related conditions.
Dr. Svetlana Blitshteyn shares her research showing that many POTS patients have positive ANA and comorbid autoimmune disorders, and she argues that these conditions involve neuroinflammation, cerebral hypoperfusion, and mitochondrial dysfunction. She discussed the role of the dorsolateral medulla in the brainstem and mentioned potential treatments like IVIG, subcutaneous immunoglobulin, and GLP-1RAs.
This webinar will feature expert Pediatric Long COVID clinician and researcher Dr. Rachel Gross, MD, MS, who will relay current clinical understandings. Speakers will also address the impact of Long COVID on quality of life and discuss BIC’s unhide platform available at no cost to patients, which is actively recruiting pediatric patients with Long COVID and healthy controls to advance patient-centered research.
This webinar featured Dr. Hector Bonilla, who provided an overview of Long COVID, explaining its global impact and pathobiological mechanisms, including viral persistence and immune dysregulation. Kelsey Aguirre demonstrated the new Spanish-language features of BIC’s Unhide platform, which now allows Spanish-speaking patients to track symptoms, connect wearables, and participate in research studies in Spanish.
This webinar featured Dr. Leonard Jason, a renowned ME-CFS researcher and patient, presenting on pacing as an intervention for managing post-exertional malaise (PEM), and Anvita Guda from Brain Inflammation Collaborative explained how the unhide platform’s pacing notifications work using wearable device data to help patients monitor and manage their activity levels.
This webinar focuses on drug repurposing in PANS (Pediatric Acute-onset Neuropsychiatric Syndrome) and the importance of collecting patient data through the BIC (the Brain Inflammation Collaborative) platform, unhide.
This webinar explores mood and behavior across multiple infection-associated chronic conditions such as PANS, Long COVID, ME/CFS, and/or Chronic Lyme disease.
This is significant because mood symptoms in these conditions are often resistant to traditional treatment modalities, and clinicians require information to better understand, diagnose, and help these patients.
Intravenous immunoglobulin (IVIG) therapy can be life-saving for those with PANS, but health insurance denials are common, and access to care can be extremely difficult.
Join us to explore what PANS is, why IVIG is used to treat it, the barriers many face to accessing IVIG, and how a BIC-sponsored study on the economic impacts of IVIG could have clinical and public policy implications.
This webinar explores “brain fog”—a common, but not well-defined symptom, that describes problems with thinking, memory, and concentration that many people experience, especially those living with chronic or post-infectious illnesses such as autoimmune diseases, Long COVID, ME/CFS, and Lyme disease.
