Bridging Gaps in Research

Through a coordinated research effort involving patients, clinicians and researchers, the Brain Inflammation Collaborative strives to uncover connections between brain inflammation and mental and physical health and make advances in the diagnosis, treatment and prevention of neuroinflammatory illness.

Uncover hidden connections between inflammation and mental health with patient-reported outcomes that leverage wearables, and validated assessments on the Unhide™ Platform for groundbreaking research insights.

The Unhide Project is an ongoing online clinical study that assembles patient-donated data to help clinicians and researchers accelerate breakthroughs surrounding brain inflammation and mental health.

Join the Movement

The relationship between brain inflammation and mental health is vastly understudied and misunderstood. The Brain Inflammation Collaborative is leading the charge to change that. Discover all the different ways you can support our mission to find long-overdue answers and solutions for patients.

Using Our Research Platform

Overview

Our platform is easy and ready to use by clinicians and researchers alike. We aim to simplify and revolutionize how clinical research is done. Clinicians can create cohorts with their own patients. Researchers can use our database of de-identified data for analysis of their own research projects as a whole, via selected illness models or with a creation of their own cohort. Visit our Grant Process page to learn more about applying for grants and how we can review your study design, help you aggregate data, recruit patients, and assist with publication writing.

Platform Highlights - For Clinicians Looking To Do Observational Research

  • Use the Unhide platform umbrella IRB approved protocol – includes help recruiting and IRB approved patient consent and assent forms (ages 2 to 89)
  • Patient or guardian enters all patient information on self-administered patient assessments – no additional staff needed for entering patient information
  • Reliable, effective, and validated self-assessment tools such as (not a complete list):
    • Affective Reactivity Index
    • ADHD Self-Report Scale
    • Somatic Symptom Scale
    • Family Accommodation Scale for OCD
    • Sensory Hypersensitivity Scale
    • Work and Social Adjustment Scale
    • Caregiver Strain Questionnaire
    • The Negative Effects Questionnaire
    • Additional scales are available and new ones can be added pending IRB approval
  • Biobanking availability with genetic analysis – inquire to learn more
  • Simplified data analysis tools available to help you benchmark your patients as whole or in a subset, casebook printing, event associations
  • Publication writing assistance as well as protocol writing help – we want to drive research at a faster pace to share discoveries to find solutions and treatments
  • Seed grants available

Platform Highlights - For Non-Clinician Researchers

  • Free use of our collaborative platform – email us for an application (info@braininflammationcollaborative.org)
  • Create your own cohort or use our database as whole
  • Use the Unhide platform umbrella IRB approved protocol for creating your own cohort – includes help recruiting and IRB approved patient consent and assent forms (ages 2 to 89)
