What is unhide®?
unhide® is a digital health platform that tracks patient health stories, symptoms, life events, and bio-samples to advance research on brain inflammation, chronic health conditions, and their connection to mental health. We aim to combat the misperception that people with brain inflammation and associated chronic medical conditions have mental health symptoms because of how they feel about their health. We strive to develop new, evidence-based diagnosis, treatment, and prevention strategies for neuroinflammatory illnesses that have a variety of underlying causes and symptoms. We work to increase awareness of the connections between the immune system, the brain, and mental health by connecting patients, researchers, and healthcare providers.
Available through the MyDataHelpsTM app on your smartphone and online, unhide® meets you where you are.
What is the relationship between the Brain Inflammation Collaborative and Solve M.E.?
Solve M.E. is a trusted partner, and we’re grateful to share common goals with them. Solve M.E. is a leading nonprofit organization focused on Myalgic Encephalomyelitis/Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (ME/CFS) and Long Covid. Solve has also managed SolveTogether, a patient-centered platform that has been collecting data since 2010 and the largest database of its kind in the U.S. Our partnership aims to combine the resources and data from both organizations to enhance research and patient care for infection-driven illnesses.
Solve M.E. transitioned full stewardship of the SolveTogether infrastructure to the Brain Inflammation Collaborative (BIC). Now known as unhide®, this transfer ensures that the powerful data engine built by Solve M.E. will continue to drive discovery under BIC’s dedicated leadership.

What is Care Evolution and how is it related to the Brain Inflammation Collaborative?
CareEvolution is a health technology company specializing in healthcare data interoperability and digital clinical research platforms. The company provides tools and platforms to aggregate, standardize, and analyze health data from various sources, including electronic health records (EHRs), wearable devices, and claims data. These platforms enable applications such as digital clinical trials, participant-centric research, and advanced healthcare analytics, serving clients like health plans, provider networks, and researchers. CareEvolution’s solutions support over 200 million people globally, facilitating use cases like clinical trial management, real-world data integration, and population health analytics.
Care Evolution’s platform, MyDataHelps, houses both the unhide® and SolveTogether databases, and hosts the finalized unhide® platform on MyDataHelps as well.
How will this partnership benefit researchers?
Researchers will benefit from a cross-sectional lens across overlapping diagnoses, enabling them to study risk factors and potential treatments more effectively. The partnership will also provide open-source data and tools to accelerate research and build upon existing discoveries.
How will this partnership benefit patients?
The partnership will expand the Solve Together platform and unhide® by adding Spanish language support, mental health symptom tracking, and the ability for children and teenagers to participate. It will also allow people with various conditions, including infection-associated chronic conditions and autoimmune disorders, to track their symptoms and participate in studies.
What conditions will be studied using unhide®?
Studies on unhide® will include conditions such as PANS, dysautonomia, fibromyalgia, Chronic Lyme, Sjogren’s, multiple sclerosis, myasthenia gravis, rheumatoid arthritis, major depression, bipolar disorder, PTSD, and traumatic brain injury, among others. These conditions share a common root cause of brain inflammation.
Are there opportunities for advocacy groups to engage in this new partnership?
Advocacy groups can partner with BIC to create their own research projects, share research opportunities with their followers, and provide patients with a tool to track symptoms and trends. This collaboration empowers advocacy groups to contribute to and benefit from the research.
What should patients currently enrolled in SolveTogether expect?
Current SolveTogether users can continue to use the MyDataHelps app to enter and view their data. The existing functionality will remain unchanged, and no further action is needed. Current participants will NOT need to enroll again.
Brain Inflammation Collaborative & Our Work
Why are you focusing on brain inflammation instead of a specific diagnosis?
We are collecting real-world patient data to study 30+ diagnoses with overlapping symptoms and attributes. This is an intentional focus because it gives us and our research collaborators a unique opportunity to connect insights across conditions, patient ages, and treatments. By comparing patients with different diagnoses in the same platform, we accelerate findings and treatments.
For example, if research leads to better clinical standards for identifying brain fog, a symptom that is present for many of the conditions we study, that advancement could impact all conditions that have brain fog as a symptom. Learn more here!
Why should I donate to Brain Inflammation Collaborative?
Brain Inflammation Collaborative is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization, and we depend on the generosity of people like you accomplish our mission. We do not charge patients or researchers for our resources or services. We don’t sell data or earn a profit on any of our work.
The clinical research space is a challenging field for organizations without financial support from special interests. We believe in patient-led, NOT profit-driven, research. We need your help to accomplish that.
Managing a research platform, developing clinical research protocols that meet the highest level of scrutiny, data cleaning and analysis, navigating publication, and meeting administrative and regulatory requirements of clinical research require substantial resources and infrastructure.
Donate today to join us in building a better future for people impacted by brain inflammation.
How can I get access to the unhide® research platform?
Please visit our research website to learn more about the project, our research, and how to enroll.
How much does it cost to participate in the Brain Inflammation Collaborative's research platform and studies?
Everything we do for patients and researchers alike is free of charge. Patients can use our platform to track symptoms, monitor treatment effectiveness, and generate reports to share with their medical providers. Patients can also choose which research studies to be a part of. This is offered to patients at no cost.
Researchers may apply for a variety of in-kind supports including access to existing data in our database, umbrella IRB approval, and assistance with study structure, data cleaning and analysis, the publication process, and more.
Where can I find a list of clinical trial opportunities are available for neuroinflammatory disease?
There are not often clinical trials conducted related to neuroinflammatory disease. That’s one of the many reasons we do what we do!
When we prepare to launch a new study or when one of our collaborators is studying a relevant treatment, we’ll share information with you as quickly as we can. Follow us on social media or sign up for our engagement portal to get the most up-to-date information at your fingertips!
How can I access a list of clinicians that have experience with neuroinflammatory conditions?
While we are focused on research to improve diagnostic protocols and standards of care for neuroinflammation, here are a few organizations doing amazing work helping patients find care and advocating better treatment options.
Who can access my data once it's in the platform?
All data will continue to be stored within a secure database managed by CareEvolution. Participant de-identified health information will continue to be made available for future research projects in the USA and other countries with vetted and approved researchers.
